Cal is currently a councillor for the RM of Moose Jaw No. 161. He was elected as Director of Division 2 at the 2010 SARM Annual Convention.
First elected in 1996 as a municipal councillor, he has been involved as a board member in several organizations: Moose Jaw River Watershed Stewards Association, Saskatchewan Flying Farmers, Senate Regional Advisory Council U of S, Central Luthern Church, Moose Jaw REDA, Moose Jaw & District ADD Board #8 and Western Plains Marketing Club.
Currently, Cal is a board member of the South Central Transportation Planning Committee, South Central Community Futures, South Central Enterprise Region and Saskatchewan Aviation Council.
Cal is a fifth generation farmer and licensed pilot. He and his wife Holly were married in 1980 and currently operate a small business and mixed farming operation with his brother and their son. Together they raised a daughter, Shelly and a son, Curtis.
Two qualities that describe his philosophy are balance and common sense. With the emerging new economy in the province there is a definite need for balance between the old institutions and the new wave of development opportunities.
